Content and hashing

A submission supplies three authored strings:

  • title;
  • description; and
  • imageURI.

The contract applies UTF-8 byte limits, not character-count limits. The current limits are listed in Limits and units.

imageURI must be a non-empty ipfs:// URI no longer than 256 UTF-8 bytes. The contract stores the URI; it does not upload, pin or serve the image.

The submission’s content hash binds the authored fields to the submission. During winning finalization, the supplied title, description and image reference must reproduce the selected submission’s expected content hash. Use the contentHash helper in the Full client reference to reproduce the contract’s ABI encoding and content hash.

An empty auction follows a separate contract path and uses the configured empty Record content. Non-empty authored content must not be supplied as a substitute for an empty Record.
