Winning finalization
Any account may finalize an ended, unfinalized auction. When the auction has a leader, the caller supplies the winning submission’s exact imageURI, title and description. The contract verifies those strings against the stored content commitment.
On success:
- the winning content becomes the Record;
- the Record is associated with the auction’s represented day;
- a numbered Tablet NFT is minted to the winning submission’s original author;
- the finalizer is recorded in the finalization event; and
- the winning CLAY is sent to the configured burn address.
Empty-day finalization
An ended auction with no submissions can also be finalized. The caller supplies the exact empty arguments required by the contract. TABLETS generates the configured empty Record and mints the Tablet to the finalization caller.
An empty Tablet records the absence of submissions; it is not a winning authored submission.
CLAY escrow and refunds
CLAY transferred for a submission or increase is held by the contract as escrow until finalization resolves the auction.
- The winning amount is settled to the configured burn address.
- Eligible non-winning amounts remain withdrawable by their authors.
- A winning submission cannot withdraw its settled amount.
- Each eligible refund can be withdrawn only once.
- Refund eligibility is determined by canonical contract state.
All token amounts passed to the contract use the CLAY token’s smallest unit. Human-readable conversion depends on the deployed token’s decimals() value.
Tablet NFT and metadata
Each finalized auction produces a numbered ERC-721 Tablet whose token ID corresponds to the finalized Record identifier used by the contract. ownerOf returns the current owner, which may differ from the original author after transfer.
tokenURI returns onchain-generated metadata for the finalized Record. For the current implementation, the metadata contains name, description, image and date. Use the Record getters and finalization events for the Record content, represented date, original author and finalizer.
Settlement invariants
- winning finalization uses content matching the selected submission;
- empty finalization contains no authored substitute content;
- the Tablet recipient follows the winning and empty-day rules;
- winning CLAY is settled once;
- only eligible non-winning submissions can withdraw; and
- escrow remains solvent across submission, settlement and refund operations.
